Process:
In the Diasec process, the image is permanently and bubble-free bonded to a transparent acrylic glass panel (face-mounting).

Print:
First, the photograph or art print is produced in high quality on special paper.

Mounting:
The front of the image is applied directly and across the entire surface to the back of an acrylic glass panel using a permanently elastic, liquid silicone or another special adhesive. Unlike other methods that use adhesive films, the Diasec process enables an almost invisible and long-lasting bond.

Sealing:
After the adhesive has cured, a stable backing panel is attached to the reverse side of the print, usually aluminum composite material (Dibond).

Finish:
The final product appears as a single unit with no visible frame, often with a glossy (or optionally matte) surface that makes the image seem to float weightlessly in front of the wall.

Photographer Ralf Schultheiß
Photographer Ralf Schultheiß, born in Essen in 1952, initially studied Visual Communication as one of the first students under Professor Willy Fleckhaus at the Folkwang University in Essen. Fleckhaus, a communication designer, not only shaped Schultheiß’s eye but also influenced the visual aesthetics of West Germany for many years. After completing his studies, Schultheiß began his professional career as a photographer for Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazin before becoming self-employed in 1981. Over the past forty years, Schultheiß has photographed people all over the world—among others on assignment for the Getty Images agency and the magazine Stern. The exhibition “Forty Faces”, curated by Schultheiß himself, offers an insight into his life’s work.

Der Fotograf Ralf Schultheiß
Der 1952 in Essen geborene Fotograf Ralf Schultheiß studierte zunächst als einer der ersten Studenten Visuelle Kommunikation bei Professor Willy Fleckhaus an der Folkwang Universität in Essen, einem Kommunikationsdesigner, der nicht nur Schultheiß’ Blick schulte, sondern lange Zeit die visuelle Ästhetik in West-Deutschland prägte. Nach dem Studium begann Schultheiß seine berufliche Laufbahn als Fotograf beim Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazin, bevor er sich 1981 selbstständig machte. In den vergangenen vierzig Jahren fotografierte Schultheiß Menschen auf der ganzen Welt – unter anderem im Auftrag der Agentur Getty Images und des Magazins „Stern“. Die Ausstellung „Forty Faces“ wurde von Schultheiß selbst kuratiert und bietet einen Einblick in sein Lebenswerk.
